Commissions and Task Forces

Volunteer service on the City's Commissions and Task Forces provides a way for residents to participate who have special experience or interest in the City’s decision-making process by advising the City Council and staff on a wide range of important topics.

Pursuant to Government Code Sections 54970-54974 (otherwise known as the Maddy Act), the list of all Board, Commission, and Task Force terms expiring in 2022 can be accessed here: Local Appointments List.

The current roster and number of vacancies for each meeting body is located on the respective individual page, under the “Commissions & Task Forces” menu.

Applications for service on any Commission or Task Force (Council's Appointed Officials) are valid for one year from the date of receipt and are a public record. Information that describes duties, time commitments, and the number of vacancies are located on the respective individual page.

In order to be eligible for appointment to any Commission or Task Force, a person shall be a resident of the incorporated area of the City of Hayward.  And, pursuant to passage of Measure OO in November 2020, appointment to Commissions or Task Forces is open to all Hayward residents, regardless of whether they are registered or eligible to be registered to vote.
